Integrative Movement and Meditation

integrative movement meditationINTEGRATIVE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATION is a multidimensional system of exercise and discussion forums that aim to improve the overall health of each client’s mind, body, and spirit.  This weekly, one hour seminar integrates many different types of disciplines, oftentimes complementary and alternative approaches to health, to create balance in each participant’s life.  By practicing specific sets of movements that combine toning and strengthening exercises, stretching, and specific breathing techniques, clients learn to align themselves with the natural world, resulting in a newfound mindfulness and self-awareness that, over time, leads to optimal health and well being.

INTEGRATIVE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATION is based on the ancient art of Ch’i Kung, a Chinese system of meditation that has been utilized for thousands of years to promote health and minimize disease.  Weekly classes consist of one half hour of theoretical discussion and one half hour of slow, gentle movements which develop self-control, concentration, and awareness.  Through the application of these meditative movements, many ailments resulting from today’s fast-paced, stressful world can be reduced or alleviated, including anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive behavior, self-injury, cravings, ADD/ADHD, chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, lower back pain, sciatica, infertility, migraines, PMS, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal problems, and others.

INTEGRATIVE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATION programs are specifically designed and implemented for each client based on diagnostic results and recommendations of a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nutritionists, and other medical providers.  Clients are fully informed of their treatment options, expected prognosis, relative risks, and safety practices to minimize any concerns prior to treatment.  Since meditation and exercise is considered to be a non-toxic, non-invasive approach to health, it is appropriate for children, adults, the elderly, very sensitive people, and those in frail health.  By working with clients in an intuitive, goal-oriented manner, we strive to achieve optimal health, self-awareness, and longevity.

Through the practice of INTEGRATIVE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATION, clients can learn an art form that develops both internal and external power and strength, allowing one to overcome mental and physical obstacles to reclaim one’s health and self.
