Paradise Recovery understands the importance of a structured, best-practice program. Our Five Phase program addresses core issues which have served to continue a destructive cycle of addiction. Some of the major processes in your course of treatment will include: 1) disclosure of issues leading up to your addiction and subsequent admission into the program; 2) reflection on the “cost” of your usage and how the addiction affected your relationships, career and quality of life, in general; 3) identification of thinking errors (e.g. denial, entitlement, power and control, black & white thinking, etc); 4) family of origin work to assist you in further understanding the maladaptive patterns of relations and behaviors (in order that they may begin to be changed!); and 5) focused aftercare planning and highly specific relapse prevention strategies.
The Phase work is conducted through intensive individual, group and family psychotherapy sessions. The work is facilitated by your primary therapist, group therapist, certified substance abuse counselors, recovery coaches and sponsors. Group sessions involve cognitive work, reflection with peers, relapse prevention, process issues, and 12-step work. You will be very busy during your stay! There is a lot that needs to be accomplished to put you on the path of sustained recovery. However, the program was designed to achieve a balance between “active” work and “reflective” work in which you will have time to journal, process what you have learned and experienced, reflect on the meaning of your new practices and beliefs and reflect on how this is going to impact all areas of your life.
The current literature states that success is best achieved in a 90-day program. This is the “magic number” when looking at length of stay for any course of primary treatment. Paradise Recovery is a primary treatment program. Our Five Phases are designed to support the individual through a 90-day course. However, we recognize that not every person can commit to a 90-day stay. We will work with you to determine what is right for you in your individual circumstance.
