When seeking help for an addiction affecting your personal, love, work and social lives you are making an important step towards recovery and health. One of the fears is that you will not be able to function without the addiction. This is not true. A major component of this disease is "thinking errors". Often our thinking problems can become barriers to recovery. In actuality, we cannot live with the addiction. Trust is difficult for most people, especially addicts. However, trust is necessary to build a therapeutic relationship with your providers at the rehab. Also, you need to trust the program you are engaged in -- that it helps millions of people to stay sober and sane! Most of all, you need to trust yourself. This may be the most difficult, since we don't trust ourselves. This becomes part of surrender...surrender to a process of transformation and change, which will bring you back to loved ones, co-workers and most of all...bring you back to yourself! The more you trust, the process of recovery becomes clear and inviting. Eventually, you will think "How can I live without recovery!" If you, or someone you love is in need of addiction treatment, please call our toll-free 24/7 HelpLine at (866) 478-9898 today! Salvia Divinorum, or commonly known as "Salvia", "Lady Salvia," "Sally-D," or "Magic Mint" is a powerful hallucinogenic and psychoactive herb with a long religious use with Mazatec shamans to induce a "religious experience". It is sold in the U.S. in small bags with varying strengths, and it is TOTALLY LEGAL. Yes, even your 10 year-old can buy Salvia at a local store. It can be chewed, smoked, or taken as a tincture. A search on YouTube can offer you video proof of the bizarre and scary looking effects of the herb. Some of its bizarre effects are: uncontrollable laughter, altered mental states, dysphoria, confusion, or visual illusions. The duration of the high is about 3-4 minutes depending on the strength. Ironically, Salvia reportedly has been used to curb addiction cravings and can put a depressed person in an elevated, less depressed mood. The herb may be non-addictive, but the use of Salvia with other drugs and alcohol may be deadly. Of course, who is the first in line to try Salvia? You've guessed it...adolecsents and addicts! Both groups have a great deal of difficulty handling affect and mood. Adolescents have enough to worry about regarding mood stabilization and control. Salvia is not going to assist in the emotional control department. Addicts have already put Salvia on their radar, since it another way to "run away," even for a few minutes, from life's happenings and responsibilities. So, if you or someone you know if regularly using Salvia along with other drugs, please call our 24-Hour HelpLine at (866) 478-9898 and speak with one of our counselors in recovery. Lets keep its use to Mexican shammans and restrict its use to growing adolescents and addicts, who may be convinced that Salvia is another "weed type high" and it can't be further from the truth! Salvia Divinorum. Hmmm...personally, I prefer another Latin phrase: Recuperatio Primoris! (Recovery above all else!) Opiate detox is one of the most difficult detoxes to have to endure. It is also a medically intensive detox for the drug rehab program that is orchestrating the detox. At least it should be. Common opiate drugs that people frequently become addicted to include Oxycontin, Vicodin, morphine, heroin, methadone, Tylenol with Codeine, and oxycodone, among others. The best drug rehabs will orchestrate your opiate detox in such a way that you will experience only mild opiate withdrawal symptoms. At Paradise Recovery, this is accomplished through the direction of a highly experienced addiction psychiatrist and internal medicine physician. The physicians work in concert with the acupuncturist and dietician to tackle the detox from several different angles. Our experience with even very difficult opiate detox situations has been very positive. Please remember: the detox process is only the first step in your recovery. You will need a clear mind and clean body to be able to absorb the critical concepts you will need and to do the transformation work required for a lasting recovery. Give yourself some time to allow this to happen. John Neuhaus, M.D. Labels: best drug rehabs, drug rehab, drug rehab center, opiate addiction, opiate detox, vicodin detox

Who is in charge of your recovery? Sounds silly to ask the question, but the obvious answer is "you are"! The best drug rehab or alcohol rehab can treat you for the disease of addiction but still fail if you do not work your program. Let's face it, addiction is a disease that takes work to overcome. It takes a lot of work. It is a battle. One that you have to face head on. But, you are not alone in the battle. The best drug rehab centers have treatment staff that are there for you. They are on your side. Just make sure you are on your side, too. What I mean by that is all too often addiction (being the sneaky sort of disease that it is) can pull you over to its side. Often it is able to do this without you even realizing it! Listen to your staff. Listen to your sponsor. They will often be able to see when this is happening, even when you can't. Remember, you can make or break your recovery. Make the choice to win that fight, no matter what. Your life depends on it. There is no better place to get sober. Hawaii has an intangible spiritual and healing environment that is difficult to describe. You feel it when you get here. I don't know if it is the blue Pacific waters, the lush green mountains, or the purest air and natural water in the world. Something about these Islands is very special. Maybe it's the people. Hawaii is known for its mature recovery community. There are a lot of people active in recovery here in the Islands. They take their recovery to heart and are great people to help you along the way. No other place on earth can compare with the beauty, spirit and power of healing that Hawaii has to offer. That's why this is the best place on earth to have a drug rehab center. Addiction treatment is a difficult process that is made so much easier when the forces of nature are behind you. Not to mention a lot of beautiful people who are on your side. Enjoy Paradise.
